Installation

1. 1Visit the Chrome Web Store and search for "StarShare"
2. 2Click "Add to Chrome" to install the extension
3. 3Sign in with your GitHub account when prompted
4. 4You're all set! Start sharing repositories with your teammates

Sharing a Repository

• Navigate to any GitHub repository you want to share
• Click the star button — a StarShare dialog will appear
• Search for teammates by their GitHub username
• Add a personal message (optional) and click share

Viewing Shared Repositories

• Click the StarShare icon in your browser toolbar
• View all repositories shared with you in the "Inbox" tab
• See your sent shares in the "Sent" tab

Extension not appearing on GitHub

• Ensure the extension is enabled in Chrome's extension settings (chrome://extensions)
• Try refreshing the GitHub page
• Make sure you're signed in to your GitHub account

Unable to sign in

• Check your internet connection
• Try signing out and back in to GitHub
• Clear your browser cache and cookies for the extension
• Reinstall the extension if the issue persists

Not receiving notifications

• Check that browser notifications are enabled for Chrome
• Verify notification settings in the extension popup
• Make sure your system's Do Not Disturb mode is off

Is StarShare free to use?

Yes! StarShare is completely free for all users. There are no premium tiers or hidden costs.

Can I share with users who don't have StarShare installed?

The recipient needs to have StarShare installed to receive shared repositories. They'll need to sign up with their GitHub account to view shares sent to them.

What data does StarShare collect?

We only collect essential data needed to provide our service: your GitHub username, profile picture, and sharing activity. We never access your private repositories or browsing history. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I delete my account?

Yes, you can delete your account at any time. Contact us at gurbaazsn123@gmail.com and we'll process your deletion request within 48 hours.

Does StarShare work on Firefox or other browsers?

Currently, StarShare is only available for Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, etc.). We're considering Firefox support for the future.
